Washington's Post has this article by James Watt (former secretary of the interior under Reagan): "The Religious Left's lies."

Referring to Bill Moyers of PBS fame, Watt says this:

"Last December Moyers received an environmental award from Harvard University. About three paragraphs into the speech, after attacking the Bush administration, Moyers said: "James Watt told the U.S. Congress that protecting natural resources was unimportant in light of the imminent return of Jesus Christ. In public testimony he said, 'After the last tree is felled, Christ will come back.' Beltway elites snickered. The press corps didn't know what he was talking about. But James Watt was serious. So were his compatriots out across the country. They are the people who believe the Bible is literally true -- one-third of the American electorate if a recent Gallup poll is accurate."

I never said it. Never believed it. Never even thought it. I know no Christian who believes or preaches such error. The Bible commands conservation -- that we as Christians be careful stewards of the land and resources entrusted to us by the Creator."

Watt does goes on to say that Moyers has apologized to him, but I would like to know how it is that a well known man so outrageously lies to a Harvard University crowd no less and probably has everyone who listened to him that day still believing it, and has made no public statement apologizing for his lie.

From SFG:

"Leaving the left I can no longer abide the simpering voices of self-styled progressives -- people who once championed solidarity"
Keith Thompson

Here is an excerpt. But YOU MUST READ THE WHOLE THING! Especially you lefties!!!

"All of this came back to me as I watched the left's anemic, smirking response to Iraq's election in January. Didn't many of these same people stand up in the sixties for self-rule for oppressed people and against fascism in any guise? Yes, and to their lasting credit. But many had since made clear that they had also changed their minds about the virtues of King's call for equal of opportunity."

The Real Enemy continued...

"A HATE mob urged terror strikes on New York and torched the US flag outside its embassy in London yesterday."......read the rest. Also here. via dave bones

I am copying an entire post from ResurrectionSong because it is too awesome and on point not to.

"Richard Cohen has an article in the Washington Post in which he comments on why reporters and journalists are still inflicted with “Vietnam syndrome." :

"By Tuesday the critical blogs had been joined by the Wall Street Journal. It opined that the error stemmed from the press’s—and Newsweek’s—basic “mistrust of the military that goes back to Vietnam.” Here the Journal has a point, but it makes it sound as if that mistrust is totally unearned. The lies of Vietnam—beginning with the murky cause for the war, the Gulf of Tonkin incident—were legion and well documented. Had reporters not taken a lesson from all this—had we not learned something from the revelations of the Pentagon Papers and the later confessions of Robert McNamara—then we would truly be unqualified to practice our profession. Skepticism is to journalists what faith is to the clergy."

"I would like to remind Mr. Cohen that the lies told about the Gulf of Tonkin incident were told by President Lyndon Baines Johnson, a Democrat. All of the lies in the first 8 years of that war were told by Democrats like Johnson, Robert McNamara and John F. Kennedy. There is another lie that a willing press was all too willing to pass on—America lost the Tet Offensive. The truth is, America won the Tet Offensive.
There was one “fact” that wasn’t a lie, and that was the reason for going to fight a war in a foreign land—To stop the spread of Communism in Asia. Many historians are now beginning to agree with what many American soldiers knew over 30 years ago, that we were somewhat succesful in that endeavour.

Bloviate all you want, you have a God given right to, but don’t expect me to have respect for your writings, or those of your media bretheren, when you guys can’t get over the insecurites you learned at the feet of Democrats."

ABC News rewrites history.

Powerline has this interesting tidbit. Oh boy. I'm starting to wonder if we can believe anything in the news these days.

The Real Enemy

This is a sermon delivered by Sheik Ibrahim Mudeiris, which ran last weekend on the Palestinian Authority's official TV station:

"The day will come when we will rule America. The day will come when we will rule Britain and the entire world - except for the Jews. The Jews will not enjoy a life of tranquillity under our rule because they are treacherous by nature, as they have been throughout history. The day will come when everything will be relieved of the Jews - even the stones and trees which were harmed by them. Listen to the Prophet Muhammad, who tells you about the evil end that awaits Jews. The stones and trees will want the Muslims to finish off every Jew."

Scary stuff. This is via dave bones, who could not be further from me on the political spectrum yet he ends this on his blog with these words:

"These are the extremists, the real enemy. Let's keep our eye on the ball."

Now, here is something we ALL can agree on. The real enemy. Now if we could just get the democrats over here to understand that.

It could not be a more beautiful day here. I hope it is the same for you wherever you are. So get off your computer and go outside and enjoy the sunshine and THIS LIFE that we have!!!

Go!!! NOW!!!

WND has this:

"After strong denials, a homosexual activist group admitted it made available to middle school and high school students an AIDS handbook described by critics as a "hard-core pornographic homosexual 'how-to.'"
The
Boston Chapter of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, GLSEN Boston, said the distribution at an April 30 event at Brookline High School violated its policy that no sexually explicit materials be made available."

Entitled "The Little Black Book – Queer in the 21st Century," the article goes on to say that the booklet contains graphic descriptions of homosexual conduct, including "fisting," along with a photo-spread discussion of condoms and instructions on how to put them on.

And the left wonders why we fight them so hard on social issues. They say "stay out of our bedroom." Well hell...who needs to go in your bedroom when you bring the bedroom to our children's school!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't want a booklet there describing heterosexual sex. How do these things happen??? Is NO ONE paying attention here????

Next thing you know we will have this video in the classroom. *WARNING* explicit content. May make one bang their head on computer or puke. Don't you love what is just a click away from our kids???? I am beginning to think that the internet is nothing but a small window in which we can view parts of hell.

This is the flyer MoveOn.org that they say "draws on themes from the Revenge of the Sith story to explain the very real threat to democracy posed by the nuclear option." Click on the link to see the commercial.

This is the script for the flyer:

The Republic stands at the brink of chaos. Seduced by a dark vision of ultimate power, one Senator schemes to destroy all opposition, replacing the old guardians of peace and justice with his own loyal minions. Sound familiar? We're not talking about a galaxy far, far away.

Right now, in Washington , D.C., Senator Bill Frist and radical Republicans are preparing to seize total control over our independent courts, long the defenders of freedom in our republic. To dominate the courts, Senator Frist is threatening to use the ultimate weapon, the "nuclear option," breaking senate rules to eliminate the right to filibuster - giving absolute power over judicial nominations to one party for the first time ever.

Then extremist judges from the far right could rule the highest courts in the land even the Supreme Court - where their power would last a lifetime. Our environment, our labor laws, our privacy -all would be in terrible danger.

Don't let them seize absolute power
Stop the "Nuclear Option"
Save the Republic

I don't think Frist will enjoy the Star Wars movie quite as much after this.

The script for the commercial is as follows:

I'm pretty sure there is a disturbance in their brain. Geeze.

Look, the Chinese can't find anyone to help them in Walmart either!

Racism lives on.

I had a weird thing happen the other day. I went out to walk my youngest to the bus stop and there were these folders and papers strewn all over the street. I started picking them up and as I was looking at them I noticed they were work related and thumbing through the papers I realized I knew who's work this was. It was a mother of one of my daughter's Jr High friends when they had cheered together. I didn't know the mom well, except to see her at games, but her work number was on the papers so when I got home I called her. It seems her car had gotten broken into the night before and they had stolen her laptop and her briefcase. They had obviously thrown out what was in the briefcase. She was very grateful to have all the papers and said she would come get them.

I knew that she worked for a Human Resource firm and I was looking through her stuff. (yes, I know nosy and all that) Anyway, during meetings it seemed she had jotted notes on the side of some papers. One word caught my eye and I looked down the page to see what she had written. This was it: "Why all these niggers? For more of a head count?" My jaw just dropped. I asked my daughter to look at it and see if I was reading it wrong somehow. But she clearly saw the same thing. I tried to figure out some other word that could be but none came to me.

Her daughter ended up coming to get the papers so I couldn't ask about it. Which I am sure the first thing she would have said is "What the hell are you doing reading my stuff?" And she would have a point. But it saddened me that mature people would still write such a thing.

When I think of all I saw growing up in Mississippi. When I know how much pain blacks had to go through on their way to civil rights. When I think about the black families I knew. I am even more sad to think that so many young black people think nothing of calling each other the "n' word and that they listen to music that degrades women and sex and glorify the thugs that sing it. And most of all I feel sad for the breakdown of the black family. This is the warpath that Bill Cosby is on. 80% of black children being born into single family homes is just wrong and certainly not part of the dream of Dr. Marin Luther King Jr.

I saw a documentary not to long ago about Harlem in the 40's. The blacks had created their own little world there since they weren't accepted in the white one. Harlem thrived with business's and great blues music. Most families were in tact. They even had their own high society with fancy teas and balls.

As I was watching, I wondered that if any of those people were suddenly thrown into the future and saw Harlem today, how horrified they would be. I wondered if they would think it was worth it? Was their sacrifice worth this???? I think they would want to know what the hell happened?

What did happen? I think there are many factors. The main one being the welfare state. I personally witnessed this program take away the dignity of the black man. I saw welfare make it acceptable for a woman to have children without a man. It gave a man the excuse to run. It is, to me, the single worst thing to happen to black people after the civil rights movement.

That, mixed with popular culture and the victim status that the democratic party convinced blacks to believe in, contributed to the social ills they suffer today.

The social ills in turn give people like this mother I mentioned above an excuse to see them as 2nd class citizens. The answer is what it has always been. Education, manners, moral values, maturity, ambition, and hard work.

Of course every race needs these things. And what people like the woman who wrote that in her papers need is a good kick in the ass.

BlogGod and BlogGay are fighting! Enjoy the show!!

UPDATE: And in this corner-BlogGod. And in that corner-BlogGay.

We may have just heard about George Galloway here, but in Britain he is well known. Oh boy.

Here's some excerpts:

“Gorgeous George”, after all, has got away with it before, time and time again. He has always escaped deselection despite saying he doesn’t “give a f***” what the Prime Minister thinks, mourning the collapse of the Soviet Union as the “biggest catastrophe” of his life, describing Ché Guevara as his “ultimate hero” and receiving boxes of Havana’s finest Cohiba cigars from Fidel Castro, a friend.
His mistakes range from the malign to the ridiculous. Mr Galloway joined Gerry Adams on a Troops Out march long before the Sinn Fein leader talked of peace. At a press conference called to rebut corruption charges over his management of War on Want, his now ex-wife was less than pleased by his confession of having “carnal knowledge” of a Greek woman he met on a charity trip.

Although Galloway has said he supported democracy in Iraq and the removal of Saddam, the story goes on to say:

"Most famously, on a trip to Iraq in 1994, he told Saddam: “Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability. And I want you to know we are with you until victory, until Jerusalem.”
Mr Galloway claimed initially that he had said “so” instead of “sir”. Later, his explanation was that he had been saluting the Iraqi people — in the Glasgow sense of “youse” — not “you”, Saddam.
Those who choose to disbelieve him point out that he has sometimes adjusted his life story to suit himself. His claims to have been “born in a slum tenement” and to have first worked in a tyre factory have been challenged by friends who say his parents were comfortably off and that he worked for only seven weeks at Michelin during the school holidays. He is even said to have lied when he joined Dundee Labour Party by pretending he was 15 when he was 13."

Judges.

One of the reasons we need to be careful about our Judges and why we need to demand strict constructionists for our courts is the recent furor over the Supreme Court citing international law for judgements. The WSJ gives us a good look at what courts like this do: (subscription required for link)

Justice' for Terrorists May 18, 2005

"Abdullah Ocalan isn't exactly a household name in America. But he's more notorious even than Osama bin Laden in Turkey, where his Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) waged a terrorist and guerrilla war that cost an estimated 37,000 lives. Last week, incredibly, the European Court of Human Rights ordered that he be given a new trial.
For Americans, this verdict should serve as yet another warning about the dangers of joining permanent multilateral legal institutions such as the International Criminal Court. ICC backers claim that the court can be trusted to exercise its authority with prudence and discretion. But the Ocalan verdict is only the latest example of the European court's frequent overreaching.
It has ruled, for example, that British law permitting the spanking of children somehow violates the European Convention on Human Rights' prohibition against "torture" and "degrading treatment." Obviously the Convention -- drafted in the aftermath of World War II -- was intended to limit the systematic abuses of governments, not the disciplinary discretion of parents. But the tendency of judges over time is to amass whatever power they can get away with, a danger all the more pronounced in any legal system not directly accountable to national governments.
Here's a quick history of the Ocalan case: For years, he received sympathetic treatment from Europe -- especially Greece, Belgium and France, where the wife of the late President Mitterrand was a fan. Ocalan was expelled from Syria in response to the credible threat of Turkish military force in 1998 (no "land for peace" nonsense here). Within a month he was captured in Italy, which actually considered granting the mass-murderer political asylum because Turkey had a death penalty. If any other European countries wanted to help put Ocalan behind bars, they didn't show it.
In January 1999 Ocalan was shipped out of Italy on a private jet. "I don't know where Ocalan is, and I don't care," remarked Italian Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema. A month later, with help from American intelligence, the Turks captured Ocalan hiding in the Greek Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. Not content to leave it there, Europe's political class began pleading for Ocalan's life. And Turkey, desperate not to offend during its EU membership drive, duly commuted the death sentence Ocalan received. This verdict is Turkey's reward.
The ruling by the European Court of Human Rights has three main due process objections to the Ocalan trial: a military judge was present for part of the proceedings; Ocalan didn't get quite as much access to his lawyers as he wanted; and there was a delay in bringing him before a judge after his capture (as if he had no clue what the charges might be). These are essentially frivolous reasons for ordering retrial, since no serious person could imagine the possibility of a different result.
After reading the verdict, David Rivkin, an international lawyer who has argued before the Yugoslavia war crimes tribunal, rendered the following judgment to us: "political, and despicable in its arrogance and hypocrisy." And Europe wonders why the U.S. doesn't always take its opinions about the war on terrorism seriously."

OMG! Can we just see a freakin Star Wars movie without hearing about politics??????

Arianna Huffington has lost her mind.

Take the Red, White, and Blue Typology Test. via The Biomes Blog

It's White Trash Wednesday! Here are the WTW bloggers:

You will rarely hear me say this. But some people will surely burn in hell. The adopted father of this girl is one of them.

If you haven't already heard about former British MP George Galloway's anti-war, anti-Bush rant before the Senate sub-committee hearing today yet, you WILL. It might well have been Michael Moore speaking. I am sure the MSM will replay his rant over and over and over. Although his stance on the war has NOTHING to do with the allegations against him, he calls the Food For Oil program "the mother of all smokescreens," yet it seems he himself is using his anti-war stance to smokescreen his involvement in the Food for Oil scandal. Let's see what the MSM focuses on this evening, shall we? The actual content of his involement or the anti-war screed? I'm guessing the latter.

Galloway is denying charges he profited from the Iraq oil-for-food program. But to get an idea of where he is coming from this is what he had to say as he stepped off the plane:

"I have no expectation of justice from a group of Christian fundamentalist and Zionist activists under the chairmanship of a neocon (President) George Bush who is pro-war."

Gee, I wonder why he was kicked out of the Labour Party.

UPDATE: Protein Wisdom has added his bit of humour/truth regarding Galloway:

"Reached for comment, the newly democratic government of Iraq was quick to dismiss Galloway’s characterization of the war as a “disaster,” noting that “the freedom of 25 million Iraqis—and the new coalition government, which will put to lie the assertion that rival ethnic factions in the Arab world cannot work together—is hardly disastrous, and is in fact the most important advance in this region since baba ganoush and cotton weaves. So, y’know. Perhaps Mr. Galloway would like to kiss our free Arab asses...?”

Heh.

Vicente Fox apologizes for remark about blacks. Fox had praised the dedication of Mexicans working in the United States, saying they're willing to take jobs that "even blacks" won't do.

When I first heard his remarked I winced. And I knew it would draw fire from the "black leadership" here in the U.S. But if you review the remark, doesn't it say something worse about Mexicans? I mean, he was saying that they do the most menial work, right? So if he was insulting blacks, wasn't he insulting Mexicans even more? And Given that he is Mexican himself, wouldn't that be insulting himself?

I'm not defending him or what he said. I just think that it is an interesting observation.

Let's Get This Right.

The Newsweek false story about the flushing of the Quran is disturbing. It makes me wonder about two things. First, how many times has a MSM outlet gone with a story that may be untrue or exaggerated because it was the story they wanted to tell? Why is it so important to them to make the United States look bad? Whether one is for or against the war, don't you want us to win it now that we are there? In war time this should put them at a distinct obligation to get stories right that they know will affect those fighting the war and in the war zone.

Shameful. Really.

The 2nd thing is that we, as a society, have got to realize how different a culture the Muslim world is from ours and we need to respect that. We are so used to freedom in this country, even freedom to denigrate another's religious belief (which is done constantly here), that we forget that there are other cultures that do not allow such freedom and demand a certain respect for their beliefs. I think we need to step lightly here. We are trying to draw the Muslim world into freedom and democracy. If they see democracy as a way for people to be able to desecrate that which is holy to them, do you think they will want it?

We need to show the Muslim world respect and that democracy will not mean the end to their beliefs. It is 2005 and women just voted for the first time in many of the countries over there. They are taking baby steps toward freedom. We need to hold out our arms to help them walk, not push them down. This is important stuff here. This is world changing and history changing stuff.

Our children will live in a safer more free world if we do this right.

Let us be careful.

Just a portrait of the defender of women's rights.

Yahoo News brings us this:

"Bill Clinton rose to the White House in part claiming to be a supporter of women"s rights, but a shocking new book claims to document a pattern of disturbing attacks against women that renders the former President"s claim hollow.
In "Their Lives: The Women Targeted by the Clinton Machine" (World Ahead Publishing, $25.95, ISBN 0974670138), author Candice E. Jackson documents how Bill Clinton used his political power to harass, intimidate, and terrorize women who got in his way. Whether it was assembling a smear team to attack a grief-stricken widow, threatening a reporter for her research into an Arkansas health care scandal, or hiring private investigators to bully an ex-flame's family members, Jackson says that Clinton showed no reluctance to go after any woman who inconvenienced his political career."

Ann Coulter, love her or hate her, she says her mind and that is what I like about her. Here she goes through the list of liberal predictions for Iraq that didn't happen:

"This week we will review liberal predictions on bringing democracy to Iraq.

When they weren't claiming the Iraq elections would not take place at all — and, even if they did, the people wouldn't participate — liberals were telling us that if we let those crazy Arabs vote, the Iraqi people would elect extremist Islamic mullahs hostile to the United States."

Leaving out some well deserved sarcasm, Here is Ann's point:

"Iraq's first democratically elected government in half a century has a Shia prime minister and a Kurdish president and several Sunni cabinet ministers."

"Fat Muqtada al-Sadr saw his radical Shiite movement humiliated in the January elections. According to a recent poll by the International Republican Institute, two-thirds of Iraqis say Iraq is on the right track."

"The minority Sunnis, who once held sway under Saddam Hussein and were told by American liberals to expect major payback from the Shiites under a democracy, were chosen by the majority Shia government for four cabinet positions — including the not insignificant position of defense minister."'

Ann gives a few more examples and if you liberals can get past her barbs at you, you might learn something from our success over there.

This morning I was watching C-span2 Book TV. It was a panel of authors on the campus of UCLA discussing their books on the war for C-Span's "Festival of Books" tour. I didn't get the names, but it was authors from the left and the right. The audience, as you might imagine, was extremely liberal, clapping and yelling for the left point of view.

This one leftie author was a woman who had been talking about how wrong the war had been ect.. (I have been informed by one of my commenters that the woman was Amy Goodman, host of democracy now! ) Finally a young man came to the microphone to ask a question. I knew immediately it was a soldier by his build and haircut and how the first thing he said was, "I have a question for the lady on the far left of the stage." And he began his question with "ma'am." Then he asked her what her qualifications were for what was going in Iraq. He said he had just finished 2 tours in Iraq and what he saw was very different from what she had described. Instead of answering the question, she started asking him questions about Iraq. He answered well and straight forward saying that the American people didn't realize how truly horrible Saddam had treated his people and even with all the violence that happens there now by the car bombings, most Iraqis are very grateful for our presence there.

There were many shouts from the audience and the moderator had to quiet them. But when this soldier finished there was nothing the woman could say. This was a man who had been there and talked to the Iraqi people. He was very articulate and polite. It was just an awesome thing to see this clean cut young man just put the truth out there with honesty as he saw it and leave the lefties on the panel with nothing to say.

God, I love our soldiers.

I heard on Fox News this morning that Larry Flynt of Hustler fame is looking to find dirt on John Bolton as his nomination goes to the Senate. Flynt is even looking into Bolton's 1982 divorce.

I think we will soon get to the point where almost no one of good qualifications will want to be nominated for anything if this is what the confirmation process will be like.

Wizbang's Jay Tea requested topics awhile back and I suggested a post about Southpark Republicans and the Religious Right. Here it is. (May 12th post)

Jay is a Southpark Republican, so I don't think he really understands social conservatives and that's fine. Just let us fight for what we believe in. Keep voting for our guys to win and we can get along great.

Probably the most insane conspiracy theory out there ever is the one that says Bush (and specifically Cheney, as shown in this article) somehow concocted 9-11 in order to start the war in Iraq. Now I realize that most liberals don't believe this, but every once in a while you come across a rant such as this and you either have to laugh or just feel sorry for the guy. I do both. Here is his plea after explaining how Bush and the media lie, lie, and lie some more.

"What am I doing about the problem? I left a six figure career two years ago when I started this site. I have drained my savings account, ignored my friends, and denied myself the lifestyle that my intellect and ability permits, all to address the most egregious crimes committed by the people who lie to you ever breath they take. I tried to do something about the problem. I can't keep doing this. I am running out of savings. I DO NOT TAKE ANY MONEY FROM THE DONATIONS MADE TO THIS SITE!!! I NEED YOUR HELP! SPREAD THE WORD AND GET ANGRY!"

A six figure salary huh? Guess that proves you can make a lot of money without actually having any sense.

Ace put up a post over at his place asking for people's dorkiest moments and he is over the 300 mark now and let me tell you, dorkier stories you will not hear anywhere.

This was an interesting news bit I came across:

Compassion & Choices -- "which advocates a 'peaceful and humane death' for braindamaged patients, such as the late Terri Schiavo" -- "is trying to honor CNN NewsNight anchor Aaron Brown at its May 19 star-studded benefit for his coverage of the Schiavo story,"

The story goes on to say:

But a CNN spokesperson says "Aaron personally and respectfully declined...He felt it was inappropriate to accept the award from an advocacy organization, however worthy." via Mediabistro

Sorry, I don't call starving a person to DEATH for TWO WEEKS a "peaceful and humane death." Give me a freakin break. You can say you thought it better that she be dead. You can say you don't think she had "quality of life." You can say that you believe she wouldn't have wanted to live that way, but DON'T say that the actual death was anything but the gruesome spectacle it was.

And isn't it nice that an anchor on CNN news is so BIASED on this issue that an ADVOCACY group wants to award him for his bias?
And isn't it nice that even in saying how inappropriate it would be to accept such an award, they say HOW WORTHY it is.

And CNN wonders why Fox is beating the hell out of them in the ratings.

CNBC's talk show Dennis Miller's last show will be tomorrow on Friday, May 13.

That's too bad. Miller was the Poster Boy for Southpark Republicans. He was an atheist, but a strong patriot and believer in American values. He believed in President Bush and he believed in this war and he honored our soldiers every chance he got. He may have disagreed with Bush on some things, but he knew what was the most important things and felt Bush was the best man for the job.

I thought he was funny and irreverent and smart. He also didn't mind letting the other person get the laughs. That is rare for the business he is in.

Maybe Fox will snap him up. I hope so.

"Four days ago, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush signed a law slapping child molesters with a minimum prison sentence of 25 years "followed by probation or community control for the remainder of the person's natural life." During such probation, the offender must "be electronically monitored." Grope a 15-year-old, and you'll be wearing a satellite-linked ankle bracelet that tells the cops where you are every minute until the day you die." via Slate.com

This is LONG overdue and it needs to be in every state. I am sick and tired of these predators getting out of prison and attacking again.

SICK. OF. IT.

A Quick Note from RightwingDaughter

Thank you, to all the people who complimented my post! Ya'll are too sweet! Although I am disappointed with how some of ya'll interpreted what I typed. Or in a more clarified manner, misunderstood. My mother by no means, FORCED me to listen to talk radio. She listened to it in the car, and well... Do you like it when someone changes the station when you're listening to something?...I know I don't... Ask my mom ! Also, one can't really tell how I argue or what exactly I believe by my post, but I am very open minded about certain things. My best friend is atheist and some of my good friends are liberal (not radically though) No offense, but even if I don't know if they are radical liberals, I can figure it out just by talking to them for a few minutes with out even mentioning politics or value issues. They tend to cook my grits a bit faster than others. For all you Yankees (haha)... that means they annoy me quicker than others.I didn't have much time to finish the post so I kind of ended it briefly. But if ya'll are lucky I might bust out another one sometime ! Thanks Again !

Bolton goes forward.

Yahoo News:

"The Foreign Relations Committee voted 10-8 along party lines to advance Bolton's nomination without the customary recommendation that the Senate approve it."

This whole thing was so stupid and unnecessary. The American people are SICK of this kind of behavior. Yes, I know the Republicans have done similar things, but at least it was within committees and not the public flogging of someone. Either way, it is time for it to stop.

Now.

The President will win this one and when and if the Democrats ever again elect another President, don't be shocked when nominations get bottled up with unprecedented behavior as well, unless you start acting like statesmen and do the right thing.

I hope you feel like reading a short story today, because that is what I felt like writing.

It was the fall of 1976 when Sarah met him. It was at the local library of all places. A place she would go to escape her life and people. She would find a book, settle in a comfortable chair and lose herself in that book until the lights flickered, letting people know the library was closing. Then she would look up and realize where she was and sigh.

That day he was sitting next to her and commented on the book she was reading. She looked over at him.
“Excuse me?” she said.
“Sorry, I couldn’t help it. I just finished that book. It keeps getting better, I promise.” He smiled. She just kept looking at him. He was handsome. His clothes were perfect and well made. She suddenly realized she had been staring. “Oh, well…yes. It is good so far.” She tried to think of something witty to say. She used to be so good at that. So good at flirting. It wasn’t like riding a bike. She just sat there feeling like an idiot.

“My name is Steve Hardin," he said, "I’ve noticed you here before. You love to read as much as I do.” He was still smiling.
“I’m….I’m Sarah.”

And so it began. A turning point really. Some might call it a gift.

Sarah was 38, but looked younger. She had always been very pretty and still was. She was married with 3 kids ages 9 to 15. 2 boys and a girl. Her girl was the oldest. At 15 she was driving Sarah crazy. Every day was a drama. The boys were easier emotionally, but physically they needed constant attention. She was always driving from one practice to another. Someone always needed something from her. And that was fine because this was the life she chose. Her children were her heart, her life. Sarah had little to complain about. Her husband made good money and she could stay home, hire help with the house. There were no financial worries and that was a blessing right there. She was a good mother, a good wife, and a good friend. She had a lot to be proud of.

Sarah started seeing Steve at the library every week. They usually talked about the books they had read. Sometimes they would go out for coffee afterwards. It never felt like a date. The flirting that Sarah had feared she had lost came back to her, but it wasn’t necessary. Steve was easy going and once you got past his looks it wasn’t hard to feel comfortable around him. He didn’t seem to be wanting anything from Sarah, just conversation. They became friends. He told her about his businesses, of which he had several. She assumed he was very successful because of the way he dressed and the car he drove. It wasn’t until almost 6 months of knowing each other that Sarah read about him in a local paper and discovered that he was a millionaire. She asked him about it next time she saw him.
“So you’re a millionaire? Huh?” she asked.
He laughed, “you saw the paper. All I have done my whole life is work hard. You know that about me.”
“I’m impressed,” she smiled at him.
“Don’t be.”

Sarah knew Steve was lonely. Why else would he spend time with her? She had asked him once why he didn’t seem to date anyone. His answer was vague and he changed the subject. But as they grew closer he hinted that he might be gay. That made sense to Sarah. It explained why he spent time with her and listened to her talk about her kids. She figured that he didn’t want his business associates to know he was gay. Maybe he just didn’t want that lifestyle. She tried to get him to open up about it, but in that one area he simply wouldn’t, so she let it drop. He had wicked sense of humor and could always make her laugh. He told her that she was refreshingly sweet. Sweeter than anyone he had ever known. They seemed to click in an odd way.

He told her once that he had read a legend that at the beginning of the world there were only a few tribes of people and everyone on the earth now descended from those tribes. He said the legend went on to say that now, every so often, one meets someone from the same tribe. That was how he felt about her. When he told her that, she felt a warm flood of happiness wash over her. It was the sweetest thing anyone had ever said to her.

She finally got to see where he lived one evening when her husband was out of town. She got a babysitter and went to his house for dinner. It was a grand house, beautifully decorated. They ate at a small table off the large kitchen by a roaring fire. The fireplace was a work of art. It was like being somewhere in Europe, dining at a small expensive bistro. They drank wine and laughed. Later she took off her shoes to feel the plush carpet in the large living area. She curled up next to him on the couch and laid her head on his shoulder. By this time they knew each other so well. They had told each other about their childhood and everything up to this point. He turned to her then and simply asked, “What is your secret?” She raised her head and looked at him and said, “I never thought anyone would ever ask me that.”

And she told him.

Sarah had stopped loving her husband years ago. She wasn’t sure what had happened, but something had. Soon after their 3rd child was born her husband changed. He had always been an easygoing guy, very sweet. Everyone thought so. But he began to be mean. He would snap at her. He got into the habit of not answering her questions if he thought they were stupid or not worthy of an answer. His temper became worse. Not to the point of physical abuse, but close. He nagged and complained. Sarah worked hard to make him happy. She desperately wanted the children to have a happy childhood. She did everything she could to make his life easy, and it did help. There would be months and months when he seemed like his old self, but the temper always returned. Sadly. Sarah realized that she no longer loved him, but there was no way she would hurt her children with divorce. No way. She did what she had to do. She put her husband in a little box in her head. When he wasn’t around she never thought about him. When he was, she pretended to love him. It wasn’t that she was unhappy. She wasn’t. She lived a good life. She had great friends and enjoyed her children so much. There was just that little box of unhappiness and she could live with that. After all, didn’t some people live with so much worse?

Steve listened quietly as Sarah poured out her story. He could see the relief she felt in just telling it. He wiped away her tears and held her to him.

“You are a brave woman Sarah.” He said softly.

Now she felt free to tell him about the times her husband made her feel so bad. She had someone to tell how she would carefully work around anything that might set him off. Steve asked her once to tell him the truth, had her husband ever physically abused her?
“No,” she assured him, “He came close a few times, but no. And it always scared me.”
“Well I understand that,” Steve replied.
She shook her head, “No, you don’t understand. You see, I knew that if he did, I would have to leave him. So I was so afraid that he would and so afraid that he wouldn’t.”
Steve looked at her, “You’re trapped, aren’t you?”
“I suppose I am,” she said sadly.

For 2 years Sarah and Steve shared dinners and coffee and then he offered her a job as his assistant. He told her she could work anytime. She could still be there when her kids got home from school. She wasn’t sure. She knew her husband wouldn’t mind, but something didn’t seem right.

A few days later she told Steve about how emotionally exhausted she was trying to keep her husband from losing his temper with the kids. She had learned how to handle him for years now, but the kids were older now and didn’t want to put up with his temper. She was constantly playing referee. She was so tired. They were sitting on Steve’s couch drinking an expensive wine. Suddenly Steve blurted out, “I have something to tell you.”
“Ok,” she said.
“I have put $500,000 in a bank account in the Cayman Islands with your name on it. I want you to take the kids and leave him. This is no life for you. Other people do this all the time. You need a home of your own. You need a life of your own.”

Sarah was shocked. She couldn’t believe he had done this. She hugged him tightly and began to cry. “I will love you forever for trying to help me. But money isn’t the answer. I cannot take my children away from their father. He may not be a good husband, but he is a good father and they love him very much.”
Steve held her close, “you must think of yourself Sarah.”
“No, I can’t do that. Thank you so much Steve. I wish you knew how much you mean to me.”

And then Steve kissed her.

And she kissed him back. It was a very good kiss. Sarah felt like she was falling into that kiss. When it was over she just looked at him. “I’m not gay,” he said simply, “I usually hint that with women until I know them well enough to know they aren’t after me for my money. I’m sorry I did that to you because…. I love you.”

Sarah couldn’t speak. And then she began to weep. Thinking that Steve was gay had kept hope away. She finally managed, “Oh God, I love you too.” And then she ran out of his house and drove away.

She wouldn’t answer his phone calls. He came by her house and she wouldn’t answer the door. She never went to the library. Mostly, when she was alone, she cried.

One day she was sitting on the floor folding clothes in her bedroom. She heard something. She stood up and suddenly in the doorway, there he was.
“The door was unlocked. I’m sorry,I had to see you Sarah.” Steve looked like he hadn’t slept in days. “Your shirt is wrinkled. I don’t think I have ever seen you in a wrinkled shirt before,” Sarah said, trying to hide the trembling in her voice. He took her hand and they sat on her couch. He told her how lonely he had been without her. He told that no woman had ever touched his heart the way that she had. He also told her that he knew that she would never leave her husband for him and he understood why.
“I know that there are some things that are greater than what we want for ourselves. I know that your kids mean more to you than loving someone else. It is one of the things I love most about you. You are unselfish and giving. I hope that one day your children realize how very much they are loved.”

Sarah started to speak, but Steve stopped her, “My only regret is that I have given you another little box to carry. The one where your love for me is kept now. When you take that box out, I hope and pray that it will give you comfort and not pain.”

Steve reached out and held Sarah. Her heart ached. Can one survive this much pain? She wondered. She touched his face. She ran her finger down his cheek.
“You have given me back a part of myself I thought was lost forever. The part that loves a man. My love for you will always be there, pushing me forward, making me strong. You made me strong, Steve.”

He kissed her and she kissed him and they both tasted each other’s tears.

She would read about him in the paper now and then. Some business venture, but never another woman. Her children grew and left for college, then married and started to have babies of their own. She cherished her grandchildren. Her husband did grow mellow with age. It was better than before, and he did love her, but for her there was never again that love for him. She loved the way he loved his kids and grandkids. She was glad that there was this home and family they had built. She had been happy for the most part. When she missed Steve the most she would comfort herself with the knowledge that for a short time in her life she had known this love. She was grateful for that. She held on to that like a warm blanket.

Sometimes she would see herself in that mansion on the hill sleeping beside the man she loved. She would imagine that life that most would have easily chosen. But Sarah knew that she had done what she had to do. Life is a mixture of love and sorrow. We make choices and they affect the ones we love, even when they don’t realize it.

There were promises to be kept and she had kept them.

I had to laugh at something I heard on the news the other day. The anchor and another person were discussing Scott Peterson being transfered to death row in prison. The guest said that "the death row community" seemed to be fine with him.

What?????? Since when do we call it "the death row community??"
And why wouldn't they be fine with it? They are sick murderers as well...Helloooo!

Prisoner 1: I'm not so sure about the Peterson guy. I don't know if he will fit into our community.

Prisoner 2: Yeah, I know what you mean. I hear he keeps a picture of Lacy in his cell. That is just creepy man!!!

Prisoner 1: True. Plus, he is just too cute. Not that I swing that way, except every other thursday, but he doesn't even have a tattoo and he has all his teeth. What kinda death row inmate is that??? I just don't see him fitting in.

Prisoner 2: No, me either. Oh....I got dibs on him for our 'welcome' committee meeting! Heh.

Prisoner 1: Damn!

White Trash Wednesday!
Here are the WTW bloggers! Enjoy!

I have been reading some Southpark Republican blogs lately about how sick they are of us religious right going on and one about these pesky moral issues. They seem to be mad at Bush as well. I told one of them that Bush is doing exactly what he said he would do. That Bush made it clear that he was concerned about the moral issues that confront us. Like abortion, and gay marriage, and the end of life issues that the Terri Schavio case brought to us.

The Terri Schavio thing really ticked them off. Why pay so much attention to it? What did it really matter? And therein lies the difference between us.

It mattered a hell of a lot.

It mattered because life matters. It mattered because it was WRONG. Should we be silent when we see injustice? We voted for Bush for many of the same reasons the Southpark Republicans did. A strong military and the war on terror. But we also saw the bigger picture of who Bush was. A man who saw the darkness of our culture. He never pretended otherwise. He was always upfront on the issues that the religious right care about.

So.. stop your whining. You know who you are.

Reuters - Mon May 9, 6:28 AM ET North Korean children play a shooting game with a toy gun aiming at a portrait of U.S. President George W. Bush at Namjun kindergarten in Shinwiju, Pyongan-Budo, North Korea. The photo was released by Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on May 9, 2005. (Reuters)

Well, isn't that special?

Here is an interesting article in National Geographic about how to teach the theories of evolution and intelligent design. It's called 'Does "Intelligent Design" Threaten the Definition of Science?'

I like this idea of teaching. It would seem to satisfy both sides if both sides were reasonable. Here is an excerpt:

"The approach steers clear of teaching intelligent-design theory in the schools (the Discovery Institute believes the theory is too new to be required). Instead, "teach the controversy" promotes teaching "all the evidence relating to evolutionary theory," West said.
Included in the evidence are what the Discovery Institute views as legitimate criticisms of evolutionary theory, such as the limits of natural selection and random mutation in explaining the explosion of new body plans during the Cambrian period (about 570 million years ago).
"If high school or college students are capable of understanding evidence for evolution, certainly they could understand scientific criticisms of key parts of the theory, particularly the limit to the creative power of selection and random mutation," West said."

Makes sense to me. Put it all out there and let the students decide. I think we call that...thinking.

"Hoist the Black Flag" Debuts!

Ya'll need to check out Ace's and Karol's new show today on Rightalk Radio 3pm ET and repeated every hour on the hour. Ace is all the "mystery" man and won't even tell CNN who he is, which just drives me crazy. So listen and if anyone can recognize him as a famous voice, let me know!!!

What would Arianna Do?

Well, the debut of the celebrity laden blog by Arianna Huffington has begun. Is it any surprise that she has ticked me off right off the bat? Her first post is titled "What Would Jesus Do.... With Tom Delay?" Here is an excerpt:

"Any sincere religious expression on DeLay’s part would have started with basic contrition and ended with taking his misbegotten donations and distributing them to the poor. Instead he offered a blanket general prayer about the need for operating with "a humble heart". Amen, and pass me them plane tickets to Russia!"

This is truly hilarious coming from a woman who I heard on the radio going on and on about the environment and SUV's and when asked about her traveling the world in private jets she replied, " I only go on jets that are already going there."...LOL!!! Well, that makes it fine to WASTE ALL THAT FUEL AND YUCK UP THE OZONE THEN!

She goes on and on about golf trips and luxury hotels paid by lobbyists for Delay. She asks over and over.....Would Jesus do these things? PLEASE! Hey! Arianna! Would Jesus have $300 spa days regularly? Would Jesus wear thousand dollar designer suits daily? Would Jesus spend more on makeup than the GNP of most third world countries? How many luxury golf and resort trips have you gone on? To quote the Good Book sugar, get the board out of your own eye before you get the speck out of your brother's.

This is a woman who thought it was GREAT to be a Republican until her mega rich husband lost his run for the Senate and then told her he was gay.

Ouch. I know that hurt. But do you really have to go to the dark side to remake yourself? Because it has been nothing but embarrassing.

BAGHDAD (AP) — American troops backed by helicopters and war planes launched a major offensive against followers of Iraq's most wanted insurgent, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, in a desert area near the Syrian border, and as many as 100 militants were killed, U.S. officials said Monday.

Read the rest. News we like to read.

This site is saying this:

"This Tuesday, the US Senate is scheduled to vote on the implementation of a national ID card system. The Real ID Act is nothing less than a Real National ID Act. The only thing left to the individual states is to decide which pretty picture they will choose to put on the card: everything else will be controlled by Washington DC bureaucrats."

Anyone else heard about this? Because I sure haven't.

I never cease to be amazed at the weirdness of the internet.

Here is a site that shows the Seven Deadly Sins....with Mr. Potato Heads.
The pictures don't point out which sins are which. You have to figure that out yourself. Via boingboing

*note: Sorry, had the wrong link before. Thanks to Richard for letting me know.

I had heard of the "I had an abortion" t-shirts, but I honestly thought it was some kind of sick joke. But Noooooo....Partisan Pundit has the link to Planned Parenthood where they sell it proudly.

Partisan Pundit also wonders if this is in the future:

"Coming soon, the guaranteed to be a classic, "I Euthanized My Grandmother" baseball cap, in four fun and sylish colors!"

It may seem like a joke now, but then I thought the abortion t-shirt was.

Confessions of the daughter of a "right wing" fanatic

The following is written by Rightwingsparkle's 16 yr. old daughter (who wouldn't let me look at it)

Growing up I recall putting on my shiny black buckle up shoes and pulling on my Catholic school plaid jumper and sitting in front of the TV before I go to eat my daily breakfast from my most beloved mother.

On the TV was always ABC news or NBC news ( more so ABC because it was least liberal..ha! ) and me being of such young age, I was forbidden to touch the remote or even ask to change the channel to something more suitable for my young mind, like cartoons. We didn't have cable due to the fact my mother didn't want to fill our minds with the "hogwash" of the world. So, quietly and with out complaint, every morning my brothers and I would watch the news, and then in the car on the way to school listen to news talk radio. Very rarely was I allowed to listen to my favorite radio Disney CD, or pop in the brand new britney spears CD which I loved dearly (What was I thinking??). Overall, that was a typical morning in my earlier life.

My mother's opinion on political veiws has and will forever, I fear, have an enormous effect on me. I believe I was the only kid in my 4th grade class that knew what abortion was and the disgusting and disturbing routines of it's evil purpose. Also, I specifically remember getting sick to my stomach when someone would mention that they liked Bill Clinton. Now, don't all you liberals on this thing freak out on me. By that Bill Clinton comment I meant that they liked him as a person, not as a President.

Now things are still the same pretty much, except now we have cable. (with the V-chip of course!) Fox news was introduced to my mom, which, to her, was like a breath of fresh air. And now I am the only 10th grader in my class who can tell you who is the Sec. of State or the Sec. of defense and update anyone on the Iraq war as need be.

As you can see, all of my life I have been exposed to the news and political affairs. I also have a great passion for writing and art related subjects, which I'm pretty sure I got from listening to the news and arguing all those years. I took a Senior creative writing class this past year in which I was the only sophomore. I loved the class and I also loved my English class this past year as well. Mainly because I love the beauty in the written word and writing just comes so easy to me. Now I will admit I suck at math and geometry this year kicked my butt. I had to work hard, but the humorous thing about it was the kids that were good in math would make jokes to me when I didn't understand something in math that was so "simple" to them. But in then the next period- English, I would be raising my hand and they were the ones sitting in the back looking like God just tried to explain the meaning of life to them. Being a Christian girl, I would never make fun, although...I tend to be quite sarcastic to curb that craving to be rude. So as my math wiz class mates sit in a complete state of perplexity, scratching their heads, and stating the occasional "WHAT?" after a question of grammar was asked, I would turn around and smile and say, " Now you know how I feel in math class..." And typically I smile again, and turn around and raise my hand to answer the next question. If you ask my mother, it seems every day I come home from school with another argument or another story to tell about something that happened with me proving someone wrong --or--(something which RARELY happens )- someone proving me wrong. With these qualities I strive to be either a lawyer or a political journalist. I know these jobs would make me the most happy when I'm older.

My job right now, however, is far from any of my dreams of being a future Elle Woods, but it helps in another goal for my later adult life. I work at a daycare, I take care of the kids and make sure they are fed and play nice and at times, I get to punish them. This is a perfect job for me because I love kids. When you are around 30 different types of kids everyday, one tends to learn the importance of every ounce of attention a parent gives their kids. Sure I have many rebels and mischievous little devils that come in almost everyday, but when you are with them everyday and you see them cry ( by this I mean really cry. Yes, I can tell the difference between a fake cry and a hurt cry ) you begin to see the beauty in every child. Even the ones that push down and bully everyone or when you tell them to do something they stare at you like you've just spoken in a complete foreign language. I even have a kid that is Hispanic, mind you he speaks English extremely well, but he acts like he doesn't understand a bit of English when he's in trouble and starts speaking only in Spanish.

This is good training for being a mom. I hope to have lots of kids because they really are the meaning of life. Once our society realizes this, our world will be a lot better off.

My mom may be a "right wing" fanatic to many of you, but to me she is just a great mom.

I am very nervous......

I am having Lasik surgery on my eyes this afternoon. I have a phobia against hospitals and doctors and anything medical. I don't know why. I have been extremely healthy my whole life and the four times I gave birth I did it naturally and was out of the hospital before 24 hrs was up.

I finally had to break down and have this done because I was sick of wearing contacts and I love to swim and I am sick of wearing goggles. But I am VERY nervous. I know this is a fairly routine surgery and the guys doing it here are the best. But the thought of someone peeling back a flap of my eyeball JUST FREAKS ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I mention that I am nervous?

Anyway, I will be off blogging probably until Sunday unless I can get one of my teenagers to blog (which would be very interesting)

Talk among yourselves.

UPDATE: Thanks guys for all your good wishes and prayers. The operation went fine although it was HORRIBLE. The suction thing about killed me. And having to watch him swab my eye was awful, but then this is the one area I am a wimp about--having any sort of medical procedure done. I'm fine with holding other people's hand and watching stuff, just don't touch me!

Anywa,y things didn't go well after that. I did everything they said and wore those shields and went to sleep. Not only did each child come in to tell me something, but our smoke alarms were going off every 30 min. They are tied into the electrical system and the electricity had gone off earlier in the day and I guessed that messed them up. Every time we thought we had it fixed, they would go off again. So that would startle me awake and I would feel a pain in my eyes. After about the 4th time we finally fixed it.

The next morning getting up for the early eye appoitment, I knew something was wrong. Everything was very cloudy and blurry. When I got there and they checked me they said it wasn't uncommon, but my flaps had moved. I think that when I was startled awake and my eyes were so dry, I moved the flaps then, because I sure as heck did as I was told and didn't touch my eyes or squint. So I had to have my flaps smoothed out AGAIN and the doctor put 2 clear contacts on there to make sure they didn't move. I asked him why he didn't just do that with everyone and he said....'Ummm. well there is some discomfort involved."

So about 10 minutes into the drive home my eyes start to hurt so bad I can hardly stand it. By the time we get home I told my hubby to call the doctor and tell him my eyes are hurting BADLY. They said that was normal and the pain should recede in a few hours. A FEW HOURS!!!!! Luckily I had a darvocet let over from my daughter's back injury so I took that and a sleeping pill and I made my daughter come talk to me until I went to sleep. I do not handle pain well.

Even with my sweet daughter rubbing my arm and talking to me I could not get away from this pain. I started doing small leg exercises under my covers. I was trying to remember a book I had read that described old Asian meditations or ways of making one concentrate on something other than the pain. But extreme pain in the eyes is just hard to ignore. Finally I fell asleep and when I woke up about 4 hours later the pain was gone thank God.

This morning my vision seems great. I have to go to the doctor tomorrow to get the contacts taken out and make sure the flaps are fine. But everything seems good today.

I cannot wait to SWIM!!! Especially in the OCEAN and not worry about contacts. Anyway, thanks again for your good thoughts. I am going to try and get my teenager to blog today anyway because I do think ya'll would enjoy it. Both of my teenagers are as Republican as I am so don't expect any rebellion. Especially on issues of life, they have seen it all with me being in pro-life work and having seen 2 brothers in my womb early on and watching those two miracles grow, they are probably even more against any compromise than I am on the issues of life (that ideal youthful passion, you know).

The guy is all class. You can see that clearly.

The really sad thing is that Kos puts this up as some sort of validation. Even he can't see how offensive the guy is.

And they wonder why they lose. Sad and pathetic.

From Michael Yon: Online Magazine

Mosul

"Major Mark Bieger found this little girl after the car bomb that attacked our guys while kids were crowding around. The soldiers here have been angry and sad for two days. They are angry because the terrorists could just as easily have waited a block or two and attacked the patrol away from the kids. Instead, the suicide bomber drove his car and hit the Stryker when about twenty children were jumping up and down and waving at the soldiers. Major Bieger, I had seen him help rescue some of our guys a week earlier during another big attack, took some of our soldiers and rushed this little girl to our hospital. He wanted her to have American surgeons and not to go to the Iraqi hospital. She didn't make it. I snapped this picture when Major Bieger ran to take her away. He kept stopping to talk with her and hug her."

Read the rest. The picture is heartbreaking but shows the heart of our soldiers. via Mudville.

TOP THREE STUPID NEWS STORIES OF THE WEEK

1) The Runaway Bride. Who cares? It was so stupid I couldn't believe how the news was going on and on about it. Now she says she didn't have cold feet, just issues. Shutup. No. Hard to believe........

2) The Pat O'Brien/Dr. Phil airing of really dirty laundry fest. A story about a semi-famous man who is obsessed with sex, drinks too much, and is a complete PIG. Wow!!! There are hardly any men like that.

3) The Laura Bush correspondent's dinner FILTHY speech. Gosh, tell an old farm joke that has been around for DECADES and your the new character on Southpark. Geeze. *newsflash to liberals......we theocons actually do have a sense of humor.

Kofi Caught?

NewsMax.com brings us this:

U.N. investigators have turned over to Congress boxes of evidence on the Oil-for-Food program, including "proof" that U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan lied to the Independent Inquiry Committee probing the scandal, Fox News Channel reporter Jonathan Hunt said Thursday."One source close to the case told me that in those boxes is the ammunition to prove that Kofi Annan lied to investigators," Hunt told Fox News Radio host Tony Snow. "So this is a very dramatic development indeed." via Ace

Lovely. And just when Kofi thought he was going to get away with it.

Charles from You Big Mouth, You! sent me this link of his regarding Holocaust Remembrance Day. He has pictures and a letter from an American soldier from 1945.

I saw a commercial today where they were interviewing young people on the street. They were asking them what the Holocaust was. One girl said it was when the Jews celebrated like Christmas with candles and things, but it wasn't Christmas...Oh. My. God. There were a few other stupid answers but none as bad as that. Then the commercial said the 53% of teenagers did not know what the Holocaust was about. I hope to God that figure is not true.

I was around 11 or 12 when I read "Anne Frank's Diary." I cried and cried. Such a beautiful soul she was. I also remember reading "The Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom about the same time. That book was about a Christian family who hid Jews and then was caught and Corrie's whole family dies in the camps. She lives to tell the story. If you haven't read it, you should. It is an amazing book of faith.

Anyway, I pestered my Mom about how this could possible happen? The horror of it was just too much for me. I suppose that is where my passion for human rights and the sanctity of life began. The thought that we are not teaching this to young people is frightening to me.

The lesson of the Holocaust is that evil can creep up on us. It's footsteps are soft and hard to hear. It is upon us without us realizing it. It can also disguise itself in virtue. It can also hide it's true horror until it is too late for us to do much about it. We can also become use to evil. We can accept it and say that it is necessary. We can ignore it because it doesn't involve us, as so many did during that time. But in our hearts we know. Our conscience tugs at us like a small child that tugs at the shirt of it's mother.

Evil can wear a smile.

Let us remember those who suffered and died. Let us remember and ask ourselves, is there evil here? We honor those who died in the Holocaust by fighting evil and by not ignoring the tug our conscience gives us.

How could it have happened? Easy. It happens so easily.

"Texas House Approves Ban of Risque Cheerleading."

As a former cheerleader and the mom of one, all I can say is.....YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FREAKIN KIDDING???????????

Cheerleaders are the last thing we need to worry about now. How about we focus on making sure kids don't have access to porn. Let's try THAT first. Geeze!!!!
