True even in Texas....

From Forbes:

WASHINGTON -- Think an unemployment rate of 9.5% is bad? It could be worse. You could be a teenager.

For teenagers, the summer job market has not been so bleak in generations. During what should be the start of the bustling summer job season, the unemployment rate for 16- to 19-year-olds who want work is 24%--the worst since 1965.

My older two never had a problem getting summer jobs in high school. My 16 year old's best friend's Dad owns 2 Smoothie Kings, but I didn't really want him working there because he is our neighbor and friend, and if he had to fire him or whatever, it would be akward for him.

But there were simply no other jobs to be had, and that is here in Texas where the economy hasn't been hit as hard as the rest the of the country. None of his friends found work this summer. He is working at Smoothie King and glad to have the job.
