Hog On Ice has the perfect take about the "missing weapons" story that Kerry and the lefties are jumping with glee over:

"The New York Times just launched a completely dishonest and blatant October Surprise at Bush. When U.S. troops arrived at Iraq's Al-Qaqaa weapons site early last year, they found that 380 tons of explosives had been taken. This is ancient news, it was obviously unpreventable, and the 380 tons are a tiny, tiny fraction of one percent of the weapons and explosives that were present in Iraq. The vast, vast majority were confiscated and are being destroyed.
Unfortunately, an NBC embed who was present when we arrived in Al-Qaqaa came forward and said the story was B.S. He pointed out that the explosives were gone when we arrived.''

These bogus attack stories of the left just keep backfiring on them, don't they? This is why the left hates Fox and the internet blogs so much. The NY Times cannot get away with their partisan 'news' anymore.

UPDATE:

The Head of IAEA does not want Bush re-elected so he kept putting this story out there. This story has been known since May of 2003 when inspectors noticed that the explosives were missing. The NY Times and CBS waited until now to blow it into a big story for the obvious reason. The soldiers on the ground are agreeing with the statement that the explosives were gone when U.S. forces arrived. All there at the time say that it was implausible that these weapons could have been taken with U.S forces in control of the one road to this facility. Considering that it wouldhave taken at least 100 men 2 weeks to remove these weapons (via Captain's Quarters) It seems clear te weapons were removed before our forces arrived.
